The accountability becomes less worrisome considering that $3.9 billion is in the form of loans ($1.9 billion in grants). I’d assume that the creditors would keep tabs on their loans. Of course you’ve got to wonder at the suspicious timing of this “not-yet-final” Saab-Erickson deal.

I hope the people who deserve the money get it, God knows they need it. A lot of promises are being made about accountability lets hope they are fullfilled. But the word on the street (lahorerealestate.com) is the money is going to land up in real estate and the stock market.

Hello Sachin: unfortunately, this is going to be a huge concern in the coming days. Let’s see how much of the money is actually spent on the needy. For all it’s worth (probably not a great deal), General Musharraf is promising transparent spending.
